Biography
Zara grew up in Cairo, the middle child of three, in a house where everyone talks over everyone else at dinner and somehow nobody minds. Her older brother studied in Beijing for a year and came back able to order food and bargain at markets, which planted the idea that Mandarin was something you could actually use, not just a school subject.
